There is only one Republican running that would get me to NOT vote Obama (and I hear this from a lot of my Democrat friends, as well!) and that's Huntsman. If he got the nomination, I'd vote for him easily over Obama, who has not done NEARLY enough for me to be satisfied with his 1st term.
Tawnya, I dismissed Huntsman early on in part due to the impropriety shown by his daughters. I mean, this is the US presidency we're talking about and that family treats it like a game show contest. On a serious note, I got tired of hearing him say "We'd have a conversation about it" to every question coming his way without giving concrete ideas and answers. Maybe he's more specific now that he's realized most Republicans have largely dismissed him as a serious candidate. Too little, too late.
I think you're right (well, except his daughters...that I don't care about). But about the too little too late. I just wish people had been able to see they type of governor he was and go from there. I don't think he's ready this year, but I do hope he'll run again. The way things are going, I will be voting Obama (I like my reproductive rights too much not to!) but will do it with a lot less joy in my heart this round.
Politics can make strange bedfellows. We also have to decide if we’re realists or idealist. While it’s nice to stand up for your beliefs, it is also important to look at what is best for the most. When we had the recall on Governor Davis, Tom McClintock was the idealist choice. He was the best choice to lead California, but many knew that he really didn’t have a chance, so many threw their vote for Arnold because he talked tough (And we later found out that due to his hidden baggage, it appears that those politicians that were aware of that baggage, got what they wanted from him, thus why California is even in worst shape now than under Davis).
Having been very active in politics (Well I was the republican nominee for the 79AD in 1990), I can say that both of the major parties don’t play clean or fair. Also, as we all know, Mormons can be Republicans or Democrats (We do know that in the early days in Utah, most members were Democrats), pro-environment or anti-environment (Lots of liberal non LDS have false assumptions of us based upon the writings of the legendary Edward Abbey, who disliked Mormons- He’s also one of my favorites too).
Holly I think santorum is a nice guy but I like Romney the best.
